March for Babies 2009

I am so proud of our team this year. It was a hard year to raise money but we still managed to raise $850.00 and win best t-shirt. The walk was an amazing day for our team and family and I can not say thank you enough for all the hard work that went into our team this year. GO CHRISTIANS TEAM!

Beach trip

We went to Myrtle Beach this past weekend and had a great time. We tricked Ian and packed the trunk while he was at ball practice. Then when I picked him up from school friday I told him we were going to try to go find this place I heard about to eat dinner. It took everything Caitlin had not to bust out laughing after we pretended to be lost for 2 hours and then just had to eat at a Wendy's. Then I said well I guess lets find our way home. Lucky for us he fell asleep right before we starting reaching Beach signs and so we got to wake him up at the hotel. He was soooo surprised. He said "you know when you are so happy you feel like you have to pee but you don't really have to pee, thats how I feel." We all fell out laughing.














We took the kids to a big car show over by the new Hard Rock park and I think they both found cars they liked.


We went to eat at the Dixie Stampede and the kids loved it. We got to see singing, dancing, minature horse races, a stampede, a chicken chase, a pig race and Ian's favorite "nugget" the dancing chicken.

After checkout we went to Broadway at the Beach and to Ripley's Aquarium. On the way home we purchased two new hermit crabs, Bruce and VW (volkswagon). We had an amazing trip and we can't wait to go back.

Well the snow was pretty but I am glad it is gone. I can't stand cold weather but it was fun to get monday off from work and get to spend it with the kids playing.

Well I got a surprise when I opened my door yesterday to a flower delivery person. Yay me, I got mystery flowers and they are my favorite flower in the whole world. The card was blank and the flower company will tell me nothing. There is nothing like having a secret admirer.

Well on Sunday I did not go hiking I went back to my moms because her mountain (yes I wrote mountain) was on fire. It was crazy 4 fire departments and the forestry service. Trucks, Airplanes and helicopters. It was wild. Mom and Kennys house is fine, in fact no houses were burned just lots and lots of acres of trees. The wild thing is at the same time this was happenening, Jones Gap in SC was on fire as well. So both of my favorite hiking spots were fire damaged at the same time on the same day.....WEIRD!

Another weekend and more hiking. Went hiking again on Saturday at South Mountain in North Carolina with Charles and Katrina. It was so cold there was ice everywhere on the rocks and hanging on the waterfalls. The air was freezing but the hiking was still great. It is always so peaceful out there and it is a great way to get out and spend a weekend. Katrina and I are training for the Cooper River Bridge Run so we figure hiking is a cool way to train and the benefits of the waterfalls and trees while walking is way better than any treadmill. We will be heading down to Charleston on April 3rd and running the 10k on the Bridge on the 4th. This will make our 4th time going and we look forward to it every year. We have plans to get up early in the morning and go hiking at Green River. It has been awhile since I have been up there so the hike should be a good one. I will post some of the ice pics from hiking on monday.

I had a great Valentines weekend. The kids and I invited Charles and Bobby over on friday night for Steak, salad and potatoes and to watch a movie.Caitlin and Ian had a treasure hunt for Charles for him to find his gift from them. It was really cute and they came up with it all by themselves so that made it super sweet.

I spent Saturday with an old and great friend Bobby and went to his church and watched his coach and ref Basketball. I got to watch my Brother Jacob coach a game and ref a few more, that was entertaining. When the games were over Bobby and I shot a few baskets and to my surprise I actually got a few in. We went to lunch and a movie and just had a great day hanging out.

On Sunday Charles and I went Hiking at South Mountain, NC. The weather was perfect for it and the waterfalls were beautiful. After hiking we went to visit my Mom & Kenny.

On April 18th, 2009 we will participate in the Walk for Babies event at Thompson Park in Gaffney, SC at 9:30 am. We would love for you to join us.

As many of you know, we started Christian’s Team in memory of Christian Blaine Philbeck. He was born on March 22, 2003 and God gave him wings on March 23, 2003. He is our little angel. We also walk in honor of Samuel Garrison Philbeck. This event has become a special day of memory and celebration for our family and friends every year. We walk with lots of other families who can share similar experiences with us and it helps us all to heal. We also walk to celebrate Sam’s life and all he has accomplished. He is a miracle from God and a reminder daily that obstacles can be stepping blocks. It would mean a lot for all of you to join us in supporting this very worthy cause.
